is it bad to be rich?
right now i'm on the east coast. i just visited three prospective schools for college, including princeton. i loved them all, i'm thinking of applying to at least two of them, and i'm visiting four more this week. but here's the thing--they're all 50,000 plus a year in tuition and room and board.
i feel like i belong here. when i was walking around princeton, i felt like i would fit in the suburban, intellectual atmosphere. yet i feel like i don't deserve it. why is it that i have so many more talented friends, and they're the ones who are having trouble paying for applications? i need college so badly to figure out who i am. but talking about college always makes me feel distant from my friends. they can all relate of financial aid and i'm stuck feeling like the bad guy because i can afford these things and don't consider financial help. i don't even qualify for financial aid, not for a long shot. i shouldn't feel guilty, but i can't help myself.
i'm not just the asian who cares about ivy leagues. but i look at my college list and it's full of selective schools. it's just my personality, not my ethnicity. i wish people would understand that i'm not taking this experience for granted at all.
that's good that you recognize and realize! :) i'm kinda the same thing except my parents are in a pickle and some bad money stuff happened and now we really need the financial aid but it doesn't look like we qualify cuz we don't right now but we will and AHHHH. so you're lucky you dont got that. xD just, be very very grateful. :) i wish i didn't have to worry at all. and i know what you mean about belonging! i feel EXACTLY like that! except i dont have the scores and what not to prove it so i'm kinda worried. but we'll see. :) if you need anyone to talk to about college, just holla! i love talkin about selective schools xD sometimes i feel like ppl dont understand.
